(Copyright : Urban Graphic)<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLa premi\u00e8re partie de l\u2019ouvrage couvre l\u2019arriv\u00e9e en Chine de Meyer, qui avait d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019y partir tout seul, parce que fatigu\u00e9 de son travail de journaliste couvrant la bureaucratie bruxelloise. Mais les autorit\u00e9s chinoises de l\u2019\u00e9poque voyaient d\u2019un tr\u00e8s mauvais \u0153il ce pigiste inconnu et sans attache. Au point qu\u2019il fallut une intervention de la diplomatie fran\u00e7aise pour lui obtenir un visa \u2013 fragile et sans cesse menac\u00e9 de r\u00e9vocation.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLes multiples anecdotes \u00e9voquant cette p\u00e9riode sont d\u2019un int\u00e9r\u00eat in\u00e9gal. Apprendre aujourd\u2019hui que l\u2019armoire de la famille Meyer est arriv\u00e9e cass\u00e9e au terme de son d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement depuis la France n\u2019\u00e9mouvra pas grand monde. Nettement plus int\u00e9ressantes sont les informations donn\u00e9es sur l\u2019\u00e9tat de la Chine \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque et le contraste avec aujourd\u2019hui. En 1989, la p\u00e9nurie r\u00e9gnait encore. Les tickets de rationnement \u00e9taient de rigueur, les \u00e9trangers avaient leur propre devise parall\u00e8le leur donnant acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des temples de la consommation comme le \u00ab\u00a0Magasin de l\u2019Amiti\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb qui leur \u00e9tait r\u00e9serv\u00e9 \u2013 le tout s\u2019accompagnant \u00e9videmment de tous les trafics imaginables au march\u00e9 noir. La vie quotidienne se heurtait \u00e0 des gags difficilement pensables aujourd&rsquo;hui : par exemple, les <em>\u00ab\u00a0horaires de travail \u00e9tant \u00e9tablis pour le bonheur de la classe ouvri\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb, <\/em>tous les restaurants fermaient \u00e0 19h.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLa grande parano\u00efa qui s\u00e9vissait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque envers les journalistes \u00e9trangers donne lieu \u00e0 des anecdotes comme la visite d\u2019une usine organis\u00e9e un jour o\u00f9 tous les ouvriers sont en cong\u00e9s. \u00c9ric Meyer \u00e9voque aussi l\u2019espionnite omnipr\u00e9sente, n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 absolue dans un r\u00e9gime dictatorial de ce type.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLa deuxi\u00e8me partie de l\u2019ouvrage, consacr\u00e9e au printemps de P\u00e9kin, est la plus int\u00e9ressante. L\u2019auteur rappelle l\u2019encha\u00eenement des \u00e9v\u00e9nements, commenc\u00e9s en avril 1989 par une mobilisation des \u00e9tudiants suite \u00e0 la mort du chef de file des r\u00e9formateurs. Pr\u00e9sent sur place de bout en bout, Meyer \u00e9voque la mobilisation de cette jeunesse chinoise, ses espoirs, le vent d\u2019utopie qui souffle alors, ainsi que l\u2019arriv\u00e9e en masse de journalistes \u00e9trangers alors que le monde entier tourne les yeux vers P\u00e9kin.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tEt puis la r\u00e9pression s\u2019abat. L\u00e0 encore, le journaliste est aux premi\u00e8res loges quand l\u2019arm\u00e9e intervient et massacre les \u00e9tudiants. Il d\u00e9crit ses reportages dans les rues de P\u00e9kin vid\u00e9es par la terreur puis, un peu plus tard, l\u2019ampleur de la r\u00e9pression : appels aux d\u00e9nonciations, arrestations, disparitions, propagande \u00e9hont\u00e9e avec un bilan officiel de vingt-trois morts \u2013 tous des militaires !\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tTr\u00e8s joliment mis en images et en couleurs par Aude Massot, dont le dessin est plein de charme, ce <em>\u00ab\u00a0journal d\u2019un reporter en Chine\u00a0\u00bb <\/em>constitue un t\u00e9moignage de premi\u00e8re main sur une \u00e9poque et sur la pratique du journalisme dans un \u00c9tat autoritaire. Il est malgr\u00e9 tout un peu dommage que l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat des anecdotes rapport\u00e9es soit assez in\u00e9gal. Cet artiste de Hong Kong ne fait pas \u0153uvre de journaliste rapportant des faits : il livre des r\u00e9cits \u00e9tranges, fantastiques, o\u00f9 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 ne se laisse percevoir qu\u2019\u00e0 travers des miroirs d\u00e9formants. Comme le titre l\u2019indique, il est beaucoup question de livres et de biblioth\u00e8ques dans cet ouvrage. Mais il ne s\u2019agit pas de biblioth\u00e8ques confortables et feutr\u00e9es o\u00f9 l\u2019on se plonge avec d\u00e9lectation dans le savoir.
