(Cr\u00e9dit : Francisco Garcia\/NOTIMEX\/AFP)        <\/div>\n      <\/figcaption>\n    <\/figure>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<h2><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tPendant cet \u00e9t\u00e9 riche en \u00e9v\u00e9nements et domin\u00e9 par le retour sur la sc\u00e8ne p\u00e9kinoise de l\u2019artiste contestataire <a href=\"https:\/\/asialyst.com\/fr\/2015\/06\/22\/ai-weiwei-le-retour\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ai Weiwei<\/a> avec sa sextuple exposition, la fondation Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (<a href=\"http:\/\/ucca.org.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\">UCCA<\/a>) a elle choisi de jouer une carte diff\u00e9rente en nous faisant cadeau de l\u2019une de ses plus belles expositions de ces derniers ann\u00e9es.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tL&rsquo;artiste sud-africain William Kentridge a ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper un parcours complexe et articul\u00e9 dans les \u00e9normes espaces de la fondation pour faire d\u00e9couvrir aux P\u00e9kinois toute la beaut\u00e9 raffin\u00e9e, l&rsquo;intelligence m\u00e9ticuleuse et la dimension en m\u00eame temps profond\u00e9ment politique, engag\u00e9e et po\u00e9tique de son oeuvre.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tL&rsquo;exposition intitul\u00e9e : \u00ab\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ucca.org.cn\/en\/exhibition\/william-kentridge-notes-towards-model-opera\/\" target=\"_blank\">Notes Towards a Model Opera<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb est constitu\u00e9e, entre autres, d&rsquo;une installation vid\u00e9o et d&rsquo;une performance (dirig\u00e9e par l&rsquo;artiste lui-m\u00eame), con\u00e7ues autour d&rsquo;une recherche multidisciplinaire sur l&rsquo;histoire de l&rsquo;Op\u00e9ra, en tant que forme artistique \u00e0 travers le monde. Cette recherche a \u00e9t\u00e9 commenc\u00e9e par Kentridge il y a plusieurs ann\u00e9es et elle culmine avec l&rsquo;\u00e9tude de l&rsquo;op\u00e9ra chinois classique.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tC\u2019est ce chemin qui se d\u00e9roule devant nos yeux, avec une grande sensibilit\u00e9 et une utilisation savante de l&rsquo;espace surtout en termes de mesure et de justesse dans le choix des pi\u00e8ces et des divers m\u00e9diums utilis\u00e9s. Ce voyage dans un univers riche, vari\u00e9 et rigoureusement coh\u00e9rent nous donne le temps d&rsquo;apprivoiser toute l&rsquo;oeuvre de Kentridge.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tAinsi de ses premi\u00e8res animations en <em>stop motion<\/em> issues de dessins au fusain sur les th\u00e9matiques de l&rsquo;apartheid et des migrations de masse, on passe aux tapisseries pr\u00e9sentant des silhouettes de migrantes sur-imprim\u00e9es sur des cartes de diff\u00e9rents pays africains, exempts de graves \u00e9v\u00e9nements comme les guerres civiles et la  violence ; puis l\u2019on arrive \u00e0 des sculptures, presque bidimensionnelles, inspir\u00e9es des marionnettes du th\u00e9\u00e2tre d&rsquo;ombre chinois et de la gravure classique.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tSe succ\u00e8dent encore de nouveaux dessins, de nombreux objets, et des \u00e9tudes de performance et autres projets de films et d&rsquo;op\u00e9ra. En effet, Kentridge a \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment pour diriger des op\u00e9ras dans plusieurs villes du monde, dont New York ou pour r\u00e9aliser la mise en sc\u00e8ne du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre op\u00e9ra de Chostakovitch, <em>Le Nez<\/em>. Lors de la mise en place de cette derni\u00e8re, l\u2019artiste a \u00e9t\u00e9 capable de surprendre le public avec ses id\u00e9es de sc\u00e9nographie simples mais \u00e9l\u00e9gantes et ses choix artistiques capables de r\u00e9concilier de mani\u00e8re organique le caract\u00e8re traditionnel de cette forme artistique et les exigences cr\u00e9atives de la recherche d&rsquo;avant-garde.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tEt c\u2019est ce sentiment qui nous accompagne jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la sortie : celui d\u2019avoir re\u00e7u une le\u00e7on magistrale mais pas pr\u00e9tentieuse sur la pratique artistique et sur ce que signifie la \u00ab\u00a0culture vivante\u00a0\u00bb. Dans un monde de l&rsquo;art domin\u00e9 par la \u00ab\u00a0personne\u00a0\u00bb des artistes, plut\u00f4t que par leurs \u0153uvres, cette le\u00e7on est celle qui place le contenu face \u00e0 la surface, le raffinement face \u00e0 la vulgarit\u00e9, l&rsquo;intelligence face au <em>show-off<\/em>.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLe monde en blanc et noir de Kentridge, avec ses th\u00e9\u00e2tres d&rsquo;ombres enrichis de toutes les tonalit\u00e9s de gris, se d\u00e9cline ainsi de fa\u00e7on r\u00e9p\u00e9titive mais jamais banale ou ennuyeuse dans l&rsquo;\u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re de la performance, dans les archives de photos, dans les cartographies et les livres dessin\u00e9es. C&rsquo;est une narration qui nous confronte de mani\u00e8re m\u00e9taphorique et physique avec les contradictions irr\u00e9solues et violentes d&rsquo;un continent, l&rsquo;Afrique, dont cet artiste est devenu l\u2019une des voix les plus importantes.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tDans les contours nets et tranchants comme des rasoirs de ses sculptures et de ses images, on ressent la tension entre sa condition privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e d&rsquo;artiste, blanc, appartenant \u00e0 une culture dominante et colonisatrice dans un continent ravag\u00e9e par la violence et l&rsquo;injustice, et sa volont\u00e9 de tout r\u00e9interpr\u00e9ter \u00e0 travers le message universel, unificateur et tol\u00e9rant de l&rsquo;art.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tEt c\u2019est toute sa vie que nous d\u00e9couvrons ici en m\u00eame temps que son oeuvre. Kentridge a ainsi commenc\u00e9 par t\u00e9moigner des cicatrices et des blessures de son pays, l\u2019Afrique du Sud, pour ensuite se concentrer sur les conditions des migrants et des exil\u00e9s. Il nous d\u00e9finit ainsi tous comme des victimes potentielles de nos propres pr\u00e9judices.
