(Copyright : galerie Eric Dupont, Paris)        <\/div>\n      <\/figcaption>\n    <\/figure>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"chapo\" itemprop=\"description\">\n\t\tLe plasticien Pascal Convert pr\u00e9sente une \u00e9tonnante \u00ab\u00a0reproduction\u00a0\u00bb photographique du lieu symbole des destructions caus\u00e9es par les Talibans en Afghanistan.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tC\u2019est dans le lieu improbable que constitue un fond de cour du quartier du Temple, \u00e0 Paris, que revit actuellement l\u2019un des sites les plus symboliques de la folie nihiliste des Talibans. Celui des grands bouddhas de Bamiyan, dont la destruction en mars 2001 annon\u00e7ait celle du World Trade Center de New York six mois plus tard. L\u2019artiste Pascal Convert a rapport\u00e9 d\u2019un s\u00e9jour en Afghanistan un exceptionnel travail photographique, expos\u00e9 jusqu\u2019au 19 novembre. <em>\u00ab\u00a0J\u2019ai voulu montrer ce que les Talibans n\u2019ont pas r\u00e9ussi\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> \u00e0 d\u00e9truire, explique-t-il \u00e0 Asialyst.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLe visiteur qui p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans la vaste salle de la Galerie Eric Dupont se trouve confront\u00e9 \u00e0 une immense photo : 1,66 m\u00e8tre de haut, 16,5 m\u00e8tres de long au total, d\u00e9coup\u00e9e en quinze panneaux d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s sur trois c\u00f4t\u00e9s. L\u2019ensemble montre la falaise de Bamiyan sur environ 1,5 km de long et 110 m\u00e8tres de haut. La paroi rocheuse s\u2019affiche avec une pr\u00e9cision stup\u00e9fiante, montrant les centaines de grottes qui la pars\u00e8ment et, bien s\u00fbr, les niches \u2013 vides \u2013 qui abritaient les deux bouddhas g\u00e9ants de 38 m\u00e8tres et 55 m\u00e8tres respectivement, c\u00e9l\u00e8bres dans le monde entier. Des bouddhas d\u00e9truits \u00e0 l\u2019explosif par les Talibans le 11 mars 2001.\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLa beaut\u00e9 sauvage du site, le myst\u00e8re de ces quelque 750 grottes creus\u00e9es \u00e0 la main par les moines bouddhistes, la trag\u00e9die de la destruction de statues uniques au monde fascinent. On ne peut pas effacer le vide et le vide, c\u2019est cette spiritualit\u00e9 qui a fait que les moines bouddhistes se sont install\u00e9s l\u00e0.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> S\u2019ils sont venus \u00e0 Bamiyan et ont creus\u00e9 ces centaines de grottes sanctuaires, <em>\u00ab\u00a0\u00e7a n\u2019est pas pour rien,<\/em> affirme le plasticien. <em>Le choix du site est tr\u00e8s particulier avec ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0bout du monde\u00a0\u00bb : le monde s\u2019arr\u00eate et commence \u00e0 cet endroit-l\u00e0. Malgr\u00e9 le geste des Talibans, cette spiritualit\u00e9 reste totalement pr\u00e9sente.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> Le site de Bamiyan, souligne Pascal Convert, subit en fait des destructions et des pillages <em>\u00ab\u00a0depuis tr\u00e8s longtemps. Il se d\u00e9truit lui-m\u00eame avec l\u2019\u00e9rosion de la falaise\u2026 On est face \u00e0 une destruction \u00e0 la fois naturelle et humaine, volontaire et involontaire.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> \t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tPascal Convert dit \u00e9galement avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 frapp\u00e9 d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but par le parall\u00e8le entre la destruction des deux bouddhas et celle des tours jumelles de New York. <em>\u00ab\u00a0Il y a une correspondance dans les dates, le 11 mars 2001 pour Bamiyan et le 11 septembre 2001 pour le World Trade Center &#8211; soit un \u00e9cart de six mois exactement. Ce qu\u2019il y a d\u2019assez \u00e9trange, c\u2019est le monument qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 fait \u00e0 New York : deux trous gigantesques [sur l\u2019emplacement des tours d\u00e9truites]. Cette pr\u00e9sence du vide dans le M\u00e9morial du 11 septembre et sur le site des bouddhas cr\u00e9e une pr\u00e9sence extraordinaire. Il y a une sym\u00e9trie dans la destruction, il y a une sym\u00e9trie dans ces monuments qui n\u2019en sont pas. Il y a un rapport au vide et au sacr\u00e9,<\/em> poursuit l\u2019artiste. <em>Les Talibans sont tr\u00e8s peu de choses face \u00e0 cela.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tLa r\u00e9alisation d\u2019une telle \u0153uvre photographique dans l\u2019Afghanistan d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui n\u2019allait pas de soi. Pascal Convert s\u2019int\u00e9ressait \u00e0 l\u2019islamisme radical depuis des ann\u00e9es : <em>\u00ab\u00a0J\u2019avais \u00e9crit sur le sujet, sur l\u2019utilisation d\u2019un geste iconoclaste qui est en fait un geste de communication : on dit qu\u2019on d\u00e9truit des ic\u00f4nes mais en fait on produit de nouvelles images. C\u2019est une strat\u00e9gie de propagande\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> de la part des Talibans, explique-t-il. Cet int\u00e9r\u00eat lui a valu d\u2019\u00eatre invit\u00e9 en 2016 par l\u2019ambassadeur de France de l\u2019\u00e9poque \u00e0 Kaboul qui souhaitait faire venir quelques artistes et \u00e9crivains \u00e0 l\u2019occasion du quinzi\u00e8me anniversaire de la destruction des bouddhas. Pascal Convert a saut\u00e9 sur l\u2019occasion et a emmen\u00e9 avec lui deux techniciens de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Iconem, sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie en zones de guerre. Leur s\u00e9jour sur place s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 dans des conditions assez particuli\u00e8res : <em>\u00ab\u00a0C\u2019est tr\u00e8s compliqu\u00e9 d\u2019aller l\u00e0-bas. cela aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 impossible sans l\u2019ambassade,<\/em> raconte l\u2019artiste. <em>Il y avait des gens du RAID avec nous, une pr\u00e9sence arm\u00e9e en permanence. Nous nous d\u00e9placions dans des voitures blind\u00e9es ! Nous sommes rest\u00e9s \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s une semaine sur place. (Cr\u00e9dit : DR)\t\t<\/figcaption>\n\t<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tSur le plan technique, la r\u00e9alisation de cette \u00e9norme photo a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendue possible gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un mat\u00e9riel tr\u00e8s particulier pr\u00eat\u00e9 par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Cornis. <em>\u00ab\u00a0Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un appareil photo tr\u00e8s sophistiqu\u00e9, robotis\u00e9, con\u00e7u pour d\u00e9tecter les microfissures dans les pales d\u2019\u00e9oliennes,<\/em> pr\u00e9cise Pascal Convert. <em>Il permet une pr\u00e9cision optique d\u00e9lirante, o\u00f9 l\u2019on voit le moindre grain, le moindre caillou. Cette extr\u00eame pr\u00e9cision est tr\u00e8s importante pour faire sentir la notion de plan vertical, de temporalit\u00e9, de lieu stratifi\u00e9 comme une coupe g\u00e9ologique ou comme un fossile. L\u2019appareil photo est mont\u00e9 sur un pied robotis\u00e9 et balaye le paysage. Chaque prise de vue fait 4 000 photos par passage. Ensuite, un algorithme redresse les verticales selon un syst\u00e8me de tuilage [pour aboutir \u00e0 une photo unique]. Mais \u00e9videmment, pendant ce temps-l\u00e0, le ciel a boug\u00e9 donc il faut faire une autre prise de vue qui donne encore 4 000 images\u2026 L\u2019algorithme calcule le tuilage de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 aboutir \u00e0 une harmonisation de l\u2019ensemble des prises, c\u2019est assez complexe\u2026\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"text\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n\t\tEnfin, comme l\u2019artiste aime m\u00e9langer, dans son travail, <em>\u00ab\u00a0des techniques tr\u00e8s contemporaines, high-tech, et des techniques anciennes,\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> il a eu recours, pour le tirage de la photo, \u00e0 un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 1870, le tirage contact platine-palladium. L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de cette technique, explique-t-il, c\u2019est que <em>\u00ab\u00a0le palladium est un m\u00e9tal lourd qui rentre dans le papier. Cela participe \u00e0 cette \u00e9tranget\u00e9 de l\u2019objet en donnant une tr\u00e8s grande pr\u00e9sence, un peu comme un bas-relief.
